Georgette, named after French dressmaker Georgette de la Plante, gained popularity in the early 20th century. Originally silk, it is now also made from synthetic fibers like polyester. Its tightly woven plain weave and highly twisted yarns create a crinkled texture with slight puckers, giving Georgette its distinctive finish.
